Author Interview

Author Q&A

Welcome Michelle & thanks for answering some quick questions for the blog.

1. Favourite author?

That’s such a hard one. There are so many awesome authors out there. Probably Terry Pratchett in terms of knowing that I will enjoy any book that I pick up.

2. What genres of book do you enjoy reading?

I read fairly widely. I’ve enjoyed mysteries, horror, lots. Lately, I’ve been a little more focused on romance novels. With those, I generally prefer paranormal, sci-fi, fantasy or dystopian.

3. Do you remember the first book you ever owned? And if so what was it?

We had a heap of Enid Blyton books, but my earliest ever book memory was a book series called Mark and Michelle adventures. Because it was about an older brother, Mark (like my own brother), and the younger sister, Michelle. For years, I thought the series was about me.

4. Name your top 3 most loved books.

Lord of the Rings. It’s the book series I’ve read the most often. The More trilogy by T.M. Franklin is awesome, and one of the more recent books I’ve read multiple times. Looking for Alibrandi is a book I haven’t read in the longest time, but which I have very fond memories of.

5. Name your top 3 favourite movies/TV shows based on a book/series.

Warm bodies is definitely up there. I would say that the movie was actually better than the book (*gasp* I know). Does Red Dwarf count? I think it kind of went the other way, was a TV show first. The Hunger Games movies have been pretty awesome. The Twilight movies aren’t necessarily the best movies of all time, but I’ve met some awesome friends out of it

6.  These books deal with the supernatural, so I wonder what supernatural creature you think would be an ideal date?

To date? Wow that’s a hard one. I could name quite a few *not* to date. Maybe a fae, especially a fae like the ones in Through the Fire. Something tells me they’d make an awesome date.

7.  Tell us what you’re reading right now.

I know it’s really bad, but I am actually between books right now. I’ve most recently finished Twelve, the last book in the More trilogy.

8. If you could visit a literary location anywhere in the world, where would it be?

Not sure if it’s really regarded as literary, but I would love to go to the East Meadow of Central Park and stand in the spot where the fae court is in the Daughter of Fire books.

Thanks for having me.

Michelle

About the Author

Michelle Irwin

Michelle Irwin has been many things in her life: a hobbit taking a precious item to a fiery mountain; a young child stepping through the back of a wardrobe into another land; the last human stranded not-quite-alone in space three million years in the future; a young girl willing to fight for the love of a vampire; and a time-travelling madman in a box. She achieved all of these feats and many more through her voracious reading habit. Eventually, so much reading had to have an effect and the cast of characters inside her mind took over and spilled out onto the page.

Michelle lives in sunny Queensland in the land down under with her surprisingly patient husband and ever-intriguing daughter, carving out precious moments of writing and reading time around her accounts-based day job. A lover of love and overcoming the odds, she primarily writes paranormal and fantasy romance.
